Illness Policy
Illness: Whenever school officials deem it appropriate, a student may be required to provide a note from a physician explaining a student’s absence and / or capacity to safely return to school. If a student believes that they have become ill during the school day, a teacher or staff member will determine if the student needs to report to the office. Students that have been vomiting (must be verified by a school employee) or exhibit a temperature of 100 degrees or higher must be picked up promptly from the school by the parent or their designated emergency contact. Ill students must be picked up within an hour and a half of the school’s contact with the parent or emergency contact. Ill students cannot be left at the school. Parents who refuse to pick up their ill child from the school after being contacted by a school official shall be reported to the Christian County Public Health Department and/or local law enforcement for support. Older siblings that are currently attending Edinburg CUSD #4 will not be allowed out of school to tend to or drive home ill siblings. Students who are sent home because of fever or vomiting shall not return to school for 24 hours.
Students who have been sent home from school for the above reasons, or who have gotten sick at home may not return to school until the following conditions are met:
